Architecture of DB Systems WS2019/20
(VU, 706.543 Architecture of Database Systems)

ADBS is a 5 ECTS master course, applicable to the computer science master catalog 'Knowledge Technologies'. This course addresses the architecture of traditional and modern database systems. In detail, the covered topics focus on a microscopic view of internal techniques for query optimization, query processing, and data management, which all have broad applicability.

Unfortunately, this course will not take place in WS2019/20 as there were less than 10 students registered at the beginning of the semester.

Exercises

The lectures are accompanied by mandatory exercises, leveraging open source tools and systems (at the extend of 2 ECTS, i.e, roughly 50 working hours). As an alternative to the exercises, students may choose to do a progamming project in SystemDS (an open source ML system for the end-to-end data science lifecycle) instead.
